C.D. Yates
CD Yates was born two weeks earlier than expected. It was the last time she was early for anything. Even as a child, she was often late for school because she was busy writing, and she continued this habit through college where she majored in English and Secondary Education. It was during this time that she discovered that the romance genre--though sneered at by her peers--was far more satisfying to read than the literary fiction they lauded. She began writing her own happily-ever-after stories of true love.
During this time, she also found true love. In 1989, she met her husband-to-be and within five minutes, felt as if she'd known him all her life. (This may have had something to do with the fact he was dressed as Santa Claus at the time.) They married in 1993; it was a June wedding completely unattended by elves or reindeer. She lives with Santa, their three children (a girl and two boys), two dogs and one guinea pig in Rhode Island, where she works as a costumed historical interpreter (complete with chemise, skirt, mob cap and apron).
She continues to be late for everything because she'd rather be writing.
Proud member and former president of the Rhode Island Romance Writers as well as active member of The Passionate Critters critique forum. (www.passionatecritters.org)
